O Comitê Norueguês do Nobel anunciou, nesta sexta-feira (11/10), que o Prêmio Nobel da Paz 2024 será concedido à organização japonesa Nihon Hidankyo (Confederação Japonesa de Organizações de Sofredores de Bombas Atômicas e de Hidrogênio), movimento popular de sobreviventes da bomba atômica de Hiroshima e Nagasaki, também conhecido como Hibakusha (vítimas da bomba atômica). De acordo com o comitê, a Nihon Hidankyo foi escolhida por seus “esforços para alcançar um mundo livre de armas nucleares e por demonstrar, por meio de depoimentos de testemunhas, que armas nucleares nunca devem ser usadas novamente”.
