Donald Trump deu carta branca para países da Organização do Tratado do Atlântico Norte (Otan) abaterem aeronaves russas, caso as mesmas invadam seus respectivos espaços aéreos. A declaração do presidente dos Estados Unidos aconteceu nesta terça-feira (23/9), durante encontro com o líder da Ucrânia, Volodymyr Zelensky.
Os dois se reuniram horas após Trump discursar na abertura da 80ª Assembleia Geral da ONU, em Nova York. Ao ser questionado por repórteres membros da aliança deveriam derrubar aviões da Rússia, se elas invadissem o espaço aéreo de algum dos 32 países da Otan, o líder norte-americano foi curto na resposta: “Sim, eu acho”, disse.
Na conversa com jornalistas, o presidente dos EUA também foi questionado se forças norte-americanas poderiam atuar contra aeronaves russas que invadam o espaço aéreo de membros da Otan.
“Isso depende das circunstâncias”, declarou Trump, sem dar maiores detalhes.
As declarações do líder norte-americano acontecem após incidentes envolvendo caças e drones da Rússia, que invadiram o espaço aéreo de três países da Otan.
O último deles foi registrado na Estônia, na sexta-feira (19/9), após o governo local acusar a Rússia de invasão com três caças de guerra MiG-31. Antes disso, aeronaves russas também foram avistadas nos céus da Polônia e Romênia.
